Sweet Leaf Tea Company was an Austin, Texas based producer of a variety of bottled, ready-to-drink iced teas sold to consumers through grocery and other retail outlets. The products were 100% natural with no artificial ingredients. The non-diet teas were certified as USDA Organic. The company used the highest-quality organic, natural ingredients including real cane sugar. Freestone exited this business in 2011.

Freestone Partners announced that it has made a substantial investment in Sweet Leaf Tea Company, an Austin, Texas-based producer of ready-to-drink iced teas. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Sweet Leaf Tea, founded in 1998, is a rapidly-growing producer of iced teas, with flavors that include Original Sweet Tea, Mint & Honey Green Tea, Peach, Raspberry, Lemon & Lime, and other flavors. Several flavors have diet versions. The teas are available in 16-ounce glass bottles and in 64-ounce plastic bottles. Sweet Leaf is sold in over 3,000 retail outlets in the U.S., with more being added. Clayton Christopher, founder and CEO of Sweet Leaf Tea, commented, “This investment by Freestone Partners will enable us to accelerate our growth and build upon the success that Sweet Leaf Tea has had in the marketplace.
